an energy plan we can believe in

Presidential candidates have been arguing for months about what should be done about America’s oil crisis, and some recent events have led to what may be the eventual unveiling of Barack Obama’s political facade.
Continually touting the need for working on long-term results that do not involve oil use, Obama recently suggested that if all Americans were to properly inflate their tires and have regular maintenance done on their cars, it would save as much oil as offshore drilling would produce.
Brilliant! Why in the world didn’t anyone else think of that?
Oh wait, they did. It turns out most Americans do properly inflate their tires, and less than a million barrels of oil will be saved.
Regardless of whether or not people get the regular maintenance checks on their cars, some of the cars that may need them most belong to the people who can afford to take their cars in the least. The little guy, the one Obama is supposed to be working for. But then, I suppose Obama’s next plan will be government-funded maintenance and free gas gauges, unless McCain hands those out first.
While this isn’t Obama’s only plan to solve the oil crisis, it is an example of the Democrats’ current approach to the problem. The problem is not theirs to solve, it is ours to fix. They are the wise parents, we are the insolent children who are causing all the problems. “If you guys would just remember to inflate your tires like we told you to, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
Instead of creating a solution, whenever the topic shows back up on the radar, they just have to remind the country that we aren’t trying hard enough because someone’s tire is a little flat. And until that someone - and you know who you are - inflates their tires, legislators can’t do anything about it.
Not only is this a ridiculous idea, it is also a frightening look at what happens without some smart speech writers. Obama’s statement originated with a comment to a supporter, something his speech writers had no control over. They had the job of trying to fix it afterwards. It’s nice to know that if Obama becomes president, he’ll need speech writers and aides on tap to prevent his next plan - that anyone in a mortgage crisis should just insulate their home better and hang their pictures straighter. All that added weight on the left side of the house is cracking the foundation, and that’s why your interest rate is so high.

I laughed out loud! “The problem is not theirs to solve, it is ours to fix. They are the wise parents, we are the insolent children who are causing all the problems. “If you guys would just remember to inflate your tires like we told you to, we wouldn’t be in this mess.””
The great irony comes from the fact that they also keep telling us we are too dumb to fix our own problems so they have to keep creating social programs, apologize to our annoyed neighbors at the UN, and threatening to ground us from our thermostats if we don’t start doing what they tell us.
