Treason: a violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or to one’s state.
If a United States citizen or official ignores the nation’s laws and treaties by unlawfully negotiating with nations hostile to the U.S. and/or allies then that person has committed an act of treason.wrote
So why is this definition of treason relevant? Well, former president - “president” used in the most loosely of terms - Jimmy Carter or Jimmy “The Cartel” Carter has traveled to the Middle East recently in order to meet with members of terrorist factions (Hamas, PLO, etc.) who target not only the United States’ interests, but Israel and any other Arabic Nation friendly to the U.S. Though Carter portrays this trip as one with hopeful intentions and a promise of peace, in reality he is maliciously attempting to undermine the foreign policy of the United States towards Islamo-Fascism and our nation’s support of Israel’s right to exist.
So why give him the nickname “The Cartel?” Think about the modern drug cartels. For the most part their main objective is to flood a nation with a product that ultimately dilutes the community’s sense of right and wrong - all for personal gain. While Carter looks nothing like Johnny Depp’s character (George Jung) from the film Blow and he does not have the rep of Pablo Escobar, he does wish to flood our nation with potentially moral-fiber-eroding products: lies and degradation from his anti-American beliefs and agenda.
Prior to and during his campaign for president in the 1970’s, Carter made several remarks about his contempt for the state of Israel and the Jewish nation abroad. Now, the same coward who could not stand up to the U.S.S.R. or Iran while president, believes his meetings with Mahmoud Zahar (leader of Hamas in Palestine) will secure future relations with the terrorist organization and weaken the bond between the U.S. and Israel. FYI: Mahmoud recently wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post stating that Israel is no better than Nazi Germany. He’s a nutjob.
I refer to the former president as a coward for valid reasons (as if his presidential record was not enough). Carter’s international contacts are well known – he maintains friendly relationships with organizations that are know enemies of the U.S. And if having man-crushes on leaders of terrorist organizations wasn’t enough, after his presidency Carter went so far as to write speeches for Arafat - speeches laced with common anti-Semitic rhetoric, albeit minus the harsh tonei. He’s still heartbroken over Arafat’s death, evident as he laid a flowered wreath over the terrorist’s memorial.
If Carter’s intention was to promote peace, why did he not meet with Fatah? Well, because they have diplomatic relations with Israel - tenuous but relations nonetheless – and Carter hates Israel. Upon closer analysis, the trip looks more like a PR stunt and less like a diplomatic mission.
Members from both parties of Congress, backed by growing support from their constituents, are condemning the former president’s meeting with Zahar and his taxpayer-funded trip to the Middle East. Rep. Joe Knollenberg (R - MI) has placed legislation on the floor that would prevent Carter from using taxpayer donations to fund his meetings with terrorists. Rep. Bill Shuster (R - PA) is also seeking support for his non-binding resolution which would deter former presidents from taking it upon themselves to conduct “freelance-diplomacyii.”
In the interest of peace, I believe that everything that can be done to prevent armed conflict, should be done. However, Carters self-promoting, terrorist tour flies in direct conflict with U.S. policies and harms the cause of peace. This poor attempt by Carter is not only degrading, but as far as I am concerned, illegal. His time as an “influential leader” has long since passed, but sadly it seems that he has become even more of an embarrassment presently than he was as president.
