imaginary snipers strike again!

Hilary Clinton recently fabricated yet another story in an effort to portray herself as the experienced candidate. According to her story, when she was first lady she took a trip to Bosnia with her daughter Chelsea, musician Sheryl Crow and comedian Sinbad and landed under the threat of sniper fire. She recounted the experience with remarkable detail (albeit false detail), even going so far as to act out how she covered her head and ran to her vehicle in a charade-based press conference. Soon after story-time, a video surfaced showing the actual events of that landing in which Clinton took her time on the tarmac glad-handing all of the Bosnian high rollers (i.e. the ten, or so, non-impoverished Bosnians).
So how could Clinton get this detailed story so wrong? Maybe JFK’s invisible assassins are back in business working grassy knulls abroad now. Or perhaps she merely confused these events with another dangerous landing in one of those other countries formerly known as Yugoslavia. It would be like trying to keep track of all the identities of Prince, I mean… The Artist Formerly Known as, I mean… The Artist. Who cares? They’re pretty much all the same anyway, right?
Unfortunately this was not just a small case of mistaken identity. Multiple military officials who were responsible for keeping the first lady safe on dangerous trips have said that there was never a scenario even remotely similar to the one she described, never a time when she had to run with her head down, never a sniper threat. Even Sinbad said that the most dangerous thing on that trip was the Bosnian food.
So what are we to make of this story? The Clinton campaign has tried to brush it aside citing that she merely misspoke “for the first time in 12 years” which was the result of sleep deprivation. As an expert on sleep deprivation (9th grade science fair winner, thank you very much) I can assure you that while there can be serious side effects, lying is not one of them, delusions of grandeur, perhaps; in which case she might be more sleep deprived than we realize.
This whole episode is just another chapter in the book of “Reason Not to Trust Clintons.” In a way they are the “ying” to Mitt Romney’s “yang”: definitely qualified with great potential to do good things but try as you may, you just cannot swing a baby seal club these days without hitting one of their lies. Granted, dishonesty is all but required in politics these days, but you have got to draw the line somewhere.
The sad thing is that no one will just come out and call them liars. They dress it up with not-so-harsh words like “mislead” or “vary the truth,” but sooner or later people need to start calling things for what they are. Let’s make it sooner.
Hilary Clinton, you are a liar.
