daylight savings time is a democrat

I’m bored with the presidential race as of late, so I think I’ll write about something today that really concerns me. Yesterday I left work for a meeting at about 5 p.m. and it was still light outside. When I got out of the meeting at 6:30 p.m., it was still light outside.
Now I know what you’re thinking: “That’s great, sunshine is nice.” That’s where you’re wrong. It’s lame. You see, I’m reminded every March or April or October or November (whenever they decide to impose this nonsense), that I have no idea why we still switch our clocks forward or back an hour for Daylight Savings.
I know this sounds trivial, but there really is no use to this decades-old idiocy, and it seems to me that it’s about time we stop. As a wise man told me the other day, “This isn’t World War I, and we don’t need extra daylight to stay up and make bombs.”
He was, of course, referring to the fact that Daylight Savings was originally adopted by European countries and the United States to conserve resources. We don’t have the same need anymore, as the entire country is not involved in the war effort and we also have better lighting. For all those greenies out there, we even have LED light bulbs, so we promise not to waste electricity if you’ll just leave the clocks alone!
I don’t really understand the logic behind Daylight Savings, since people could have just woken up an hour earlier if they needed the light so much. Most countries stopped changing their clocks, but the U.S. just has too much pride. As I see it, all the process does is hurt us. Every spring - just as you are beginning to feel the excitement of the changing season while you awaken to chirping birds - you have to move the clock forward. The next thing you know, those birds are still asleep, but your alarm clock is going off and you have to get up anyway.
I might add that the man in office in 1918 when the U.S. adopted Daylight Savings was Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, so Democrats are lame too.
